Not every home has a spare bedroom. A Murphy bed folds into a cabinet, so a den, office or craft room can host overnight guests and still work the other days.

Our beds use original Murphy Bed mechanisms, and the mattress can be up to 11 inches deep.

Thinking about a do-it-yourself kit? Kits are very heavy, and the risk is that parts go missing. A bed that is built in a shop and installed by a crew avoids both.

Who builds and installs your closet

Everything starts in the Alpha cabinet shop in Gulf Breeze, where our woodworkers cut and assemble it. Anything stained or painted is finished in our on-site finishing shop. Our own employees do the install, not subcontractors.

Permits and water in Pace homes

Pace sits in Santa Rosa County, so permits come from Santa Rosa County Development Services in Milton, at 6051 Old Bagdad Highway, Suite 202. Call 850-981-7000 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

According to the county’s permitting page, “Generally speaking, building permits are required if you are starting a new construction project, remodeling and planning to change the footprint of an original structure, or making any structural changes.” Closets aren’t mentioned, so we can’t say whether yours needs a permit. Ask before any plan that moves a wall, a light or an outlet. The county also warns that “Development in Santa Rosa County is increasing causing increased plan review times,” which is a reason to ask early.

Moisture is a fair question for anything built near the floor. The county’s floodplain office is “the archive for all the flood information for the county,” and its flood information guide states, “You do not have to live near water or in a special flood hazard area to have your property flooded.” Melamine, a colored laminate over a board core, can swell when soaked. If water has ever reached your closet, tell us before we pick materials.

What a custom closet costs in Pace

There’s no Pace showroom. Ours is at 6084 Gulf Breeze Pkwy in the Midway area. From Pace it’s about 27 miles, or 41 minutes by car. Saturdays are by appointment, so call before you drive out on a weekend.
